Years Five and Six worked together in mixed groups today to research and present information about the different time periods that are visited by the Key Master in this year's summer production. We look forward to seeing the finished work on display in the KS2 hall very soon.

The Edward Francis Year 6 Boys Cricket team played in the Castle Point and Rochford inter-school Kwik Cricket Tournament at Benfleet Cricket Club today. They performed superbly, getting to the final of the competition, where they lost by only 6 runs to Plumberow. The boys played brilliantly as a team and showed excellent sportsmanship while coming runners up and were a credit to the school. Well done boys! There were some fantastically creative entries into the 2016 Easter Egg Competition from some of the Year 6 pupils. This year's theme was 50 Years of Edward Francis School. Year 6 have been studying personification in English, making inanimate objects seem human by using verbs linked to human actions. As part of our theme work, we have been using different maps and information in an atlas to identify physical features of North America. 6V have been studying different North American artists with Mrs Clifton this half term. We have recreated the different styles of art using a range of media. In Mrs V's maths group we have been studying the stories of different line graphs - we used Explain Everything on the iPad to explain what we thought a graph was showing. In PSHE, we looked at the book, The Three Questions, which is based on a story by Leo Tolstoy. We had some really interesting discussions about the questions Nikolai asks in the story and all took away a key lesson from the book in how to be good people. In computing this term, we have been using the ipads to create some stop-start animations. We learned lots of different techniques to help us create effective movement and to tell the story of how the Egyptians built the pyramids! We hope you enjoy watching them! On Friday, to celebrate Book Week 2016, Year 6 dressed up as some of their favourite book characters. Can you identify who they came as?
